Hi all,

I know there have been a million threads on what to take in your hospital bag (which i really should pack with only 5 weeks to go), but wanted to try and get a complete list together with the most useful things....

So what would you recommend, i'll start with all the basics and feel free to add all your essentials too (including things for c-section)....

For you
-Sanitary towels ('Always' jumbo ones)
-Knickers (large!)
-Tshirt (for giving birth)
-Nightshirt/p.j's (for sleeping in after giving birth)
-Slippers and socks (feet get really cold for some reason)
-Hair bands (if you have long hair)
-Going home outfit (a pregnancy outfit that you feel nice in)
-Shower stuff (dont forget your shower gel with hook & dark towel!)

For Baby
-Nappies
-Baby wipes
-Blanket
-Sleepsuit
-baby vest
-Going home outfit for bub

C-sections
-Arnica

Thank you!!!

My hospital provided everything me and the baby needed in terms of hospital clothes, nappies and the changing thereof, maternity pads and shower cleaning stuff. These were the extra things we needed:

toothpaste and toothbrush
hairbrush
hair-tie
shampoo and conditioner
underarm deodorant
lip balm
slippers (didn't need dressing gown - it was too hot)
bottles of water
nursing bras
big knickers
breast pads
sling (baby wouldn't sleep except when on me - tying her on with the sling meant I could get some kip as well)

Clothes for going home for me and the baby

I didn't need anything for labouring because I had a CS.

And that's it, everything else surplus to requirements. BTW this was in a Spanish hospital.

I was a 5 hour discharge. I used:

1 sleepsuit
1 hat
1 blanket
1 nappy
change of clothes for me
toiletries + makeup
camera

Everything else I packed was a complete waste of space. I could have taken the stuff I used in a carrier bag

I'd be a bit umm about bringing a dvd player tbh; you don't want to spend all your time keeping an eye on it do you?

Last time round I brought the absolute minimum, much less stressful. In the last six weeks I bought magazines and saved them for the hospital (but in the event they got read much later as just wanted to stare at dd3)

Must second the pedicure idea, it really cheered me up during 14 hour labour stranded on my back with dd3.
