Tell me this sounds like I'm close!

I know, I know, been done a million times before but I have had enough! I'm 39+3 with DD2 and feeling like a whale. Braxton Hicks have ramped up loads over the last few days, feels like my stomach is constantly rock solid and I'm having loads of period pains. Last night it felt like the baby's head dropped quite a lot and it's now a bit uncomfortable to close my legs, and there's a gap at the top now so I can breathe. I feel a bit queasy and bowels are a tad loose (apols for TMI). Have been nesting for weeks but it's really ramped up over the last few days, have felt like it all urgently needs finishing. Everything is organised and packed, homebirth planned.

Somebody tell me that sounds good! DD1 was 5 days over but I didn't feel like this so early on.

God this bit of pregnancy sucks. All you can think of is the one thing that isn't happening! Surely there's one person online now who can say 'Oh yes, I felt like this and gave birth that night.' Please?

Awww - sorry - my experience wasn't the same but didn't want you to go unheard/answered!

Hope things are going OK and fingers crossed for a very quick, easy birth at home - maybe tonight/tomorrow?!

CharCharGabor · 24/02/2010 11:19

Thanks DottyDot might go and scrub the floors in the hope of moving it along a bit (after I've been to the toilet, AGAIN!) I went to bed last night praying to be woken up by something, never been so disappointed to wake up in the morning!

I'm impressed that you didn't wake until the morning

I'm 32 wks and I wake all night because I'm sore and need the loo!

CharCharGabor · 24/02/2010 11:29

Well I did wake up a thousand times to turn over but I try to forget that For some reason I've not needed to go to the toilet in either pregnancy at night. In my defence I wee all day!

I know how you feel am 37+6 and just so fed up.

Like you started feeling nauseous and having period type pains and intense BH too. Midwife today said head is 3/5 and had DS at this stage.

Am a bit scared but just want it over can't sleep properly in between night time trips to the loo.

Hope you get some good news soon

CharCharGabor · 24/02/2010 15:58

I hope you do too Lemonadegirl. My midwife didn't mention how engaged was at my last appointment but I think she's dropped mostly in the last 2 days anyway, feels even heavier today. Going to have a bit of a potter now, been snuggled up with DD for most of the day so need to get moving a little I think! Good luck!

Often subsequent babies don't engage until labour starts, so I wouldn't read too much into that.

The body 'clearing itself out' is a good sign. I had that with both DD's.

A bit of gentle exercise could be beneficial, but don't wear yourself out, you might well need lots of energy soon.

Homebirths are fab. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

CharCharGabor · 24/02/2010 18:10

Thanks nigglewiggle. I had read that subsequent babies often don't engage in labour but there is soooo much pressure down there now. I've been feeling quite restless but am trying not to do too much. Will potter round the house this evening and see what happens. Have an outing with DD's toddler group tomorrow morning which I'll still go on if nothing happens tonight, it'll be a welcome distraction!

Any news yet Charchar - sending you positive vibes

CharCharGabor · 27/02/2010 12:06

Aaah thanks for thinking of me LemonadeGirl, nope nothing going on here yet apart from stronger period pains. I'm due tomorrow so something had better happen soon! How are you getting on?
