Anyone threatened with premature labour then made it to full term??

Just wondered about anyones experiences really.

I've been in hospital with mild, regular contractions at 32 weeks. Been told to come home and rest as they have settled a little and nothing happening internally. Drs say its a waiting game and who knows what will happen.

Just wondered if this has happened to others, and they just put up with it for months and baby arrived at term? DS came at 36 weeks though.....

Or am i living in a dreamworld and in denial that I'm going to have another premature baby??

My friend spent Christmas Day in hospital with contractions, at 33 wks pg. She was given steroids in case they couldn't stop the labour, but it did stop.

She gave birth last week to her ds2, at 40+6.

Yay ! So i can happen thank you - am just getting a bit worried and assuming that this one wasn't going to wait. Great news about your friend - did she worry for weeks too??

Am spending the day washing and sorting out nursery just in case!!!

Of course I've no idea how common it is to get to full term after premature labour - she may have been lucky. She was a bit worried but seemed OK. It was dc4 so she was quite used to all this pregnancy and birth business.

As your ds was early I guess you may be more likely to have this one early too...but every day is going to help in terms of the baby's growth etc. Good luck.

I spent a week in hospital at 27 weeks having contractions & with my cervix starting to open. They managed to stop the contractions & ds2 finally arrived at 39 weeks. I was signed off work after I left hospital & told to rest for the remainder of my pregnancy which was a nightmare but worth it in the end. ds1 was born at 36 weeks too btw.

I fell over at 35 weeks and was admitted for the afternoon with what the hospital called "tightenings" (no one was using the word contractions but it got to the stage where they were 7 minutes apart).

They let me home overnight but told me to pack my hospital bag and come back if I was still "tightening" in the morning.

I am now 39+3 and DS is showing no signs of budging anywhere yet...

Good luck!

and ps, I have been having pretty strong Braxton Hicks contractions since 16 (!) weeks so that doesn't seem to have had any bearing on it either...
