things you wished you knew the first time..

I think that giving birth for the first time is one of the most terrifying things a woman does. I thought we could have a thread with tips to pass on to make the labour experience better.

For example I wish I knew about optimal fetal positioning the first time. Ie. if you lie on your back when pregnant or slouch in a chair when you are pregnant you increase the chances of a having a back to back labour.

That you don't have to lie flat on your back during labour just because a midwife wants you to.

that spending a fortune on reflexology to 'get baby out' is a complete waste of money!

how amazing home births are. and to have to confidence to have one first time round!

That having somebody who can speak up for you and your wants/needs when you're too busy shaking from head to toe due to pain is a huge help!
