Hi there

Does anyone have a birth plan template for an elective section?

I can't think what to put in mine! Seem to remember having quite a lengthy one with my first child which no-one looked at or used! Just want more of a simple checklist really that I can keep with my notes.

Thanks!

I kept mine really simple and got it signed off with the consultant leading my care - this is important, as otherwise theatre staff can take over and ignore your wishes when you are anaesthatised on the table and pretty much unable to argue your case!

I asked for:

the screen to be lowered at point of birth so i could see my child being born

To be able to see the sex of the baby myself, not to be told

skin-to-skin at the earliest possible convenience - definitely for a minute or so before they cleaned/weighed him

to be able to have skin-to-skin and breastfeed as soon as in recovery room - for midwife to be willing and able to support me in this

I got it all
