DIY sweep?

Is a DIY sweep a bad idea?

I am now 40+5 with my first baby and I won't be able to get a sweep done 'properly' until Friday - and if that doesn't work, the hospital policy is to induce 5 days later.

I've been having crampy pains and the BH are starting to get more forceful (especially whilst nipple twiddling ) so hopefully I am on my way already...

If a DIY sweep isn't too bad an idea, then please can someone point me in the direction of finding out how to do it? Never having had one, I don't know how it works!

if things are happneimg, i'd leave well alone, you can do a search on hre for a DIY sweep, can you reach your cervix for a start?

best advice is sex and nipple stim...

if you are going to have a go, make sure your nails are trimmed and clean and be gentle

it is whether you can actually sweep yourself in any useful way.. better off with sex and orgasm and nipple stim, which frankly, is far more entertaining

Thankyou Lulumama! I may leave well alone since I had cx for quite a while last night following plan a. They had been about 5 mins apart, lasting 30-50 secs but became irregular and wore off after a while. Think it's getting closer- omg, I'm going to have a baby, aren't I? You'd think I'd be properly used to the idea by now! (slightly hysterical )

Hi Serennos - I had this for the 2-3 days before DS born (ie runs of BH cx) - try and keep as active as possible - recommend lots of walking as well - I walked miles in the 2 days before DS born! and it will be soon! TBH even when it started with DS (DC2) for real I wasn't sure as had had too many runs of BH cx - only when it had been going for around 2 hours was I prepared to think that this was it!!!!

If possible try and arrange for a 2nd sweep on monday/tuesday of next week, hopefully you will not need it, but if it was me i'd be requesting a sweep every 2nd day in the few days running up to an induction.
