Urgent advice desperately needed: failed induction and c-section with SPD

I've spent the last five days in hospital trying to be induced (at 38 weeks) due to severe SPD. It had worked by this point with DD but they told me today I'd need a days rest and DH insisted I came home. I can't tell you how upset and frustrated I am: I actually hate the baby right now.

I have to go back tomorrow so that they can begin again. If it doesn't work this time, they will give me a c-section.

My questions:

is this something you have experience of? Did it work second time or should I just opt for the section?
How painful was the c-section recovery compared with SPD?
any thoughts on trying to get the bloody baby to take the hint before morning? I am sick of the pain.

Please help me. I'm pretty desperate about the whole thing.
