Hi

I'm booked in for an ELCS with DC2 following a EMCS for DD1 4.5 years ago.

Just wondered if anyone else is having one around the same time - 23rd March?

If so, how are you feeling about it as it looms closer? Do you have any plans/tios/advice?

I'm googling caeserean healing as we speak!

Anyway, good luck to everyone due on the next few weeks and beyond!

Hi Messy,

I can't offer any advice I'm afraid as I had a 'natural' birth last time... but if I decide on an ELCS for DC2 then it will be in the same week as you (I have a consultant appointment on 1st March to make the decision). I'm feeling quite terrified right now!! I can't quite get my head around the healing time, sounds like a nightmare whan you have an active toddler to look after as well. I've found MN very helpful with tips on what to take into hospital etc, and how to look after yourself afterwards.

Do you know what you're having?

xx

Hi there

Having had an EMCS last time, I'm not too worried about the actual procedure. I was lucky in that it went smoothly and I healed pretty quickly. Worst bit is the first time you have to get out of bed as it feels as though you're going to burst open, but of course you don't! Don't be terrified. A planned section is going to be a million times less stressful than a drawn out or complicated natural delivery. I decided from the off that I would have an elective this time!

Scan says we're having another girl. How about you?

Hi MLM,

I also have an ELCS booked for the 23rd, 6 days after my due date. I am hoping for a VBAC though, but as my DC1 was 10 days late, I am not counting on it.

I am feeling undecided about which one I would actually prefer. The recovery for the EMCS I had last time was hard, but at least I know what to expect this time around.

I have also heard from lots of people who have an ELCS that the recovery is much quicker as at least you are well rested before it rather than having gone through x hours of labour.

'Fraid I don't really have any tips or advice other than make sure you have plenty of help for at least 2 weeks afterwards...
