Fentons op?

ladies Just wondered if any of you have heard of the fentons procedure? I had dd 18 months ago and had a 2nd degree tear and I have pain during intercourse and the gineacologist has said that I have a bridge which is scar tissue inside and to have this prcedure done. I cant find much on the internet about this but also what I have read is that you cannot have another natural birth after having the procedure which has worried me as I would like to have another child.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had this done several years ago (2004 iirc) to help me get pregnant. I found sex very painful before having it done. Got pg with ds1 about 6 months later. I had natural births with ds1 and ds2 without any problems (slight tear with ds1 that needed a few stitches).

Hopefully someone with proper medical knowledge will be along soon to advise.

Hi. I had a Fenton's procedure after DD1 (3rd degree tear appallingly sutured by student mw. I now have ONLY REGISTRAR OR CONSULTANT TO SUTURE PLEASE on birth plans)

It was a quick day case thing, looked soo much better afterwards. Went on to have VBs 2 and 3 and, God willing, 4. No one ever suggested a VB not possible afterwards ( though was steered towards CS largely due to 3rd degree tear history)

Let me know if there is anything else you want to know.

sorry, can only offer personal experience not medical knowledge!

With DD2 I had 1st degree tear (which was sutured, but think that was largely due to them being extremely paranoid about my detailed birthplan!) and with DD3 grazes only. No regrets.

I had this. Inside skin outside. No one ever said I couldn't have VB again (am now 35w). It was day surgery. I found it v painful tbh and cried. I also had to go back again a few weeks later as they did not get all the skin and they burnt it off, which wasn't painful. Was then totally pain free. HTH.

Anyone else?

I had an episiotomy with my first dd. This overhealed so i had to have the fentons procedure done because I was finding sex uncomfortable. It was done in half an hour by general anaesthetic and was all very straightforward. Never any suggestion it would affect how I gave birth in the future and I dod go on to have two more natural births after that, followed by two c sections but that was becuase of a 3rd degree tear with my chird child, nothing to do with the Fentons op.
