Bleeding 4 weeks after giving birth and 10 days after lochia stopped

I had my DS 4 wks ago today and lochia for the last 10 days or so has been down to slight brown/cream discharge.
Last night i started to bleed again bright red blood which has since got slightly heavier. I don't feel unwell and have no pains. I am exclusively breast feeding so would think i can't be a period yet.
I am waiting on a call from out of hours doctor as I have called NHS direct.
Why do these things always happen on a weekend when you can't do anyhting about it!
Any experinece of this happening to anyone?

It could be your period. Happened to me but I was mix feeding. I would have thought unlikely if you are solely breastfeeding though. Best to get it checked out, hope you are OK.

yup and i had some 'retained products' nice. But in my case not enough for D&C so I just had to let nature take it's course... and I was also given antibiotics just in case of infection. Very unlikely that it is your period if you are exclusively BF (which I was too). Hope you get sorted soon.

How did you get on with the out of hours Dr perfectmummy?

CarGirl · 07/02/2010 21:06

my periods started that soon despite exclusive bf

How did you get on with the OOH doc perfectmummy? Hope all is well?

went to A&E last night and they seem to think it is a period but gave me anti biotics as well just in case. Have some cramping now as well so would make sense. Shocked that it could happen so soon though. I'm bloody sick of bleeding and sanitary towels!!! When will it end!

thanks all of you for your concern. As usual MN saved the day!!
