Sorry yet again am starting a is it nearly here thread based on latest events. Apologies am just overexcited! Had stretch and sweep yday cervix favourable, 2cm dilated and now anterior. This morning lost mucus plug (seriously that was the snot of a million kids -have never seen so much!) there was a tiny bit of bloody in it and I have read the bloody bit is best indicator. Having sporadic sore braxton hicks and period pain like backache. So this weekend looking promising or will I make my overdue drs appt at hospital on tues?

Sounds very promising.. with my first VBAC I had the sweep on the thursday afternoon.. (unfavourable!! so they said) the friday mornmign I lost my plug, then through out the day my contractions started.. BY 6pm we went to the delivery suite and I had him at 4.23am on the saturday morning. Good luck hun xx

notnowbernard · 06/02/2010 11:23

SOunds good...

Good luck!

Thandeka · 06/02/2010 11:28

No contractions though, braxton hicks very rarely. I am now starting to think mucus plug was just dislodged by sweep and actually nothing is going to happen.

Just get on with it already!

(Thandeka never did learn the art of patience)

Feeling your pain Thandeka... all sounds positive but from experience I'd say don't imagine it's all going to happen immediately. DD was a "3 sweeps" child.... Really hoping to see some good news on here from you soon!

Granny23 · 06/02/2010 13:27

With DD1 lost mucus plug New Years Day. Confined to the house thereafter. DD1 not born until 21st January. However I was well rested by then.

Hi thandeka, maybe you are in labour right now, if so good luck!

If not, I just wanted to add AFAIK the show (spotting due to the cervix opening) is a good indicator labour is very imminent. The mucous plug does not necessarily mean labour is about to begin.

For me labour started 24 hrs after a show, I never noticed a mucous plug at all.

mama2moo · 06/02/2010 20:39

I knew this would be you before I opened the thread!

Have you nested recently?

I think you will have the baby tomorrow It all sounds good. When are they going to induce you if (BIG IF) nothing happens? At least if you are induced you are already dilating IYSWIM. I have read that the first 2cm are the worst if you are induced and you are there already.

Come on babythandeka, come out

Thandeka · 06/02/2010 20:52

Seriously how much mucus in a mucus plug? Have had 3 big globs so far- first was size of a toddlers fist- other two baby sized fist sizes! Having lots of odd pains but bh's all but disappeared so I don't think anything exciting is happening just yet. Have icky tummy ache too probably from eating too much pineapple! Have drs appt tues where they will discuss options! Feel like everyday is an episode of eastenders with me at mo- ending on cliffhanger til next installment......

Waves at mama2moo who am very jealous of! X

My show was really runny and brown (TMI!) and it started at 4am and kept going all day. It was gross and nothing like I expected, I didnt one at all with dd1.

I thought it was my waters until I googled it!

I also went to the loo loads the day of my labour buy my contractions were very on and off until 10pm - Babymoo was born at 3am in the morning. I felt sick as well and did until I got my gas and air - Then everything was fine!!

Make the most of your sleep. Babymoo is loving feeding all night at the mo!

mama2moo · 07/02/2010 20:35

Any news?

flyingcloud · 08/02/2010 07:48

You've gone quiet - where are you Thandeka- waiting for a birth announcement here!

Arcadie · 09/02/2010 09:33

Yes - likewise. The woman hasn't posted in 48 hours. Either there's a massive power cut where she is or there's news......!!!

mosschops30 · 09/02/2010 09:37

I lost my mucus plug after sweep - 4 sweeps, an ARM and EMCS later ds2 was born.

Sorry, am a non believer in signs of labour!

Umlellala · 10/02/2010 06:49

Yes, she's had the baby (mama2moo, you were right)!

Thandeka has asked me to tell you that she had her bonny (9lb 5oz - ouch) baby girl on Sunday (7th Feb).

Sounds a bit of an epic (v intense contractions v quickly, failed epidural, episiotomy + forceps eventually. Ventouse came off with a pop..!)

but babyThandeka is here! And in NICU doing well. Can't wait to see them both

Arcadie · 10/02/2010 13:45

HURRRRAY!!!! WEll done Thandeka and babyThandeka!

Initio · 10/02/2010 15:03

Yay, that's great news!

Granny23 · 10/02/2010 18:30

Great News and glad you did not have too long to wait.

mama2moo · 10/02/2010 18:33

Pass on my congratulations when you see them please Umlellala. I hope they are all ok x

Thandeka · 16/02/2010 16:12

ta muchly- half back! baby on boob at mo- completely hideous experience and baby possibly suffered some brain damage during delivery as seen in her mri scan yday- but things are positive- she acts like a normal baby- wees, poos, sleeps, boobs, stares at black and white contrast.

she was in neonatal intensive care for 5 days- attached to all moniotrs fed by tube etc. Had to have a lumbar puncture. Whole thing was just so traumatic and am welling up as i write this but no time to write more as she needs more boob!

But am hopeful will be fine- one day when more time i will have to post aboout the whole experience- more to help me process it than anything else.

But she is gorgeous though and we love her very much!
