How's your Midwife ? ( Rant )

Do you like and get on with your Midwife ?

I'm not saying I dont like mine, but she seems to be quite nervous alot of the time.. fine, maybe shes new even though she is early 40's.

As long as she keeps me in check then ok, but with 5 weeks to go.... ( this my 2nd DC )

2 weeks ago I asked about the local birthing centre, regarding my medical history and if they would accept me, could she talk to the Obs consultant aswell, as I knew they would say no without higher up info.

I saw her yesterday and she hadnt spoken to the Obs consultant, just the birthing centre, and they said ' No'. I could have done that myself.... I wanted an appointment with the Consultant !? 2 weeks wasted waiting !

So, not being rude, I asked if she could speak to the Consultant and make an appointment for me asap.... so I can discuss with him etc... she said she'd call me back by 5pm.... next day I had to phone the community midwives and chase her up.

So anyway, I asked her about the labour rooms at this hospital, as there are no tours at the moment because of ' swine flu '

She explained the bed comes apart, etc, and then added to my horror about it having stirrups for me to bear down on !

I was after a calm Natural water birth ! If I cant have that then I want my squatting position.

I just feel like she wont get me, and yet the midwife that took our Antenatal classes was lovely and very me, pro natural birthing etc.....

Is it too late to change midwife ? Should I say something to her ? I just dont feel any connection with her....

A call backed up with a letter to the supervisor of midwives might be in order if you feel that you aren't getting any help. And it certainly doesn't sound like you are getting any help. You can certainly ask not see a named midwife.

Have a look at the AIMS website for help. And quickly! Time is not on your side!
