Caesarean wounds and lack of healing

Had a crash c-section 3 weeks ago.

Now I'm on the 3rd course of antibiotics, the wound hasn't closed properly, its discharging fluid like crazy, the district nurse is having to come every day to dress it.

Quite frankly the wound looks a bloody mess and I'm sick of it. How long is it going to take to heal? When I ask the nurse, she says how long is a piece of string.

Would like to hear your experiences please, so I can mentally prepare myself as to what I'm in for.

Mm I am not an expert but that doesn't sound great after 3 weeks. Mine was never that bad even right after the section (though I was definitely lucky and had a fab surgeon!). If it doesn't start getting better soon, maybe ask your midwife to take a look?

It's also worth asking if there is anything you can do to help it heal; even just exposure to fresh air for a while each day can be helpful for some types of wounds I think (but like I said I am not an expert so please don't try anything without proper advice!).

Not an expert either but mine had pretty much healed up by the time I left hospital - both times. Agree MyName - why not let the MW or your GP have a look. I note that you are on antibiotics which might mean that the GP is already involved but I would think about asking him/her how long this should go on.
