Am due DD4 in a few weeks and had heard that 4th labours are sometimes a little different.
DD1 was classic overdue, 36hrs long, serious complications etc
DD2 and DD3 were 5hrs from first twinge to birth - so only a couple of hours of agony, very straightforward, no stitches etc.

Am I right to hope that DD4 follows similar pattern to the last two ??!!!!!!!

Share your DC4 labour stories please ladies !

waves to lockets my new mentor

Am about 14 weeks away from B day with DS

DD1 4h20m
DD2 2h30m
DD3 1h35m

This is all from waters or first twinge BTW I get no warning, DD2 and 3 have been HBs and debating whether or not to have a HB with DS.

DC1, 4 hrs, hosp birth, no complications aside from general and common obstructitionesque ishoos.

DC2, 2 hrs, homebirth, lovely. Meconium in waters but they broke just prior to appearance so no ishoos made of it.

DC3, 1.5 hrs, homebirth, lovely, lovely.

DC4, 3 hrs, homebirth, lovely. I'm certain the birth length rose because I was savouring every second of gas and air my final birth that I possibly could

Anya4 · 01/02/2010 12:09

Ha ha, yes, part of me is looking forward to gas and air !! feel like a pro at it.
Thanks Ladies - seems to be the general trend that things don't get drastically more complicated for the 4th..
Enjoying every minute of pregnancy so not in a hurry to get to labour !!

DC1 - induced, 39 weeks, 12, hours, forceps delivery, ouch.

DC2 - spontaneous 35 weeks, 8 hours

DC3 - spontaneous 35 weeks, 6 hours

DC4 - spontaneous 36 weeks, 5 hours. Best ever birth for DH as it wasn't through the night at all (waters went at 10am, ctx started at 3, baby born at 8pm, lovely). I have to warn you though, that I bled the most, and as a result felt more weak and wobbly than previous births. Also, the afterpains were excrutiating for a few days.
But I'm enjoying every second of the baby as I now know how fast it flies by!

Hope it goes well for you.

somanyboyssolittletime · 02/02/2010 15:19

Good luck from me too - DC4 due next week and have got fingers crossed for quick and easy birth!

My labour with dd4 was the easiest of the lot.

She fell out was delivered within 45 minutes of arriving at the hospital and the midwife hadn't even examined me before i buzzed her to come back so i could push!

4 is a fab number to have, although im pining for a 5th
