If I can get into a pool at my hospital then I would like to give it a try, it's my first time.
Has anyone else had their partners in the pool with them, i.e is there any room, and did they want to be in there with you, or could you stand having him in with you??

I had a waterbirth with my first, it was fantastic, go for it.
My birth centre's policy was "nobody gets in but you", so you may find you don't have a choice anyway. Personally I wouldn't have wanted DP in there with me - I liked the private space and ability to move around without worrying about anyone else. I leant over the edge with him kneeling by the side, quite close enough.
Bear in mind too that the water may, um, not be sparkling clear by the end, if that's something that your DP might not be comfortable with.

Got into the birthing pool for dd but eventually had to get out as she was stuck.

Had ds in birth pool it was fabulous. Dp was not in with me but i was leaning over the side & he was right in front of me passing me the gas & air.

Agree with Puddock, it's nice for it to be your own space & not have someone in with you. And yes there may be some flotsam & jetsam, do not think dp would have wanted to be in there!

Kept MrNC outside rubbing my neck and passing me grapes.
Never occured to us to get him in there although there was room.

Had a waterbirth with my first,DP got in too, much to my surprise!
Worked out well,he helped deliver(but is medical).Only complaint was it being too hot for him,ha,too bad me thinks.
Plenty of room in portable pool, but built in one for 2nd was too small.
