Aargh is this the longest latent phase of labour EVER?!?!?

10 days ago I had a show and started having contractions - strongish ones - every 10 - 15 mins or so. I called my mum put my bag in the car. Contractions stopped. SINCE THEN i have had 3-4 hours of contractions, followed by nothing for a few hours, NON STOP. Midwife says baby's head is 4/5 engaged - I can barely walk! I'm now 40+6. It's all a bit of a nightmare as I'm in no state to look after my very active DS, who is with me full time, but DH can't take indefintae tiome off work or he'll have no leave left for when baby's born.

Booked for a sweep tomorrow. Very pissed off

Don't mind being IN labour, or being overdue - what I can't bear is being sort of half in labour but half not for 10 DAYS!!! Please tell me it will end soon...

Think you've got to be close to going in to the record books. Can understand why your pissed off.....it must be a complete nightmare cos you can't even get a full nights sleep.

Hopefully that sweep tomorrow will move things along a bit. Sorry to get personal but have you tried 'doing it'? Probably the last thing on your mind at the moment and definitely won't be enjoyable but I'm sure this was what turned my 24 hours of latent labour (I know, only 24 hours and no competition for you!) in to full on contractions. Any thing's worth a go at this point surely?!

Good luck and hope that a slow start means a quick and easy end!
