Does anybody know of any good websites where I can buy a tens machine?

I fyou ask your miswife she will beable to tell you if there are any hospitals or birthing centers that rent them - i payed £17 for mine and i got it for the last 3 months of my pg.

lilaclotus · 06/07/2005 11:47

i rented mine from the hospital.

MissChief · 06/07/2005 12:00

you can rent them from yr local Boots store if big enough.

Thanks for all your advice but I really wanted to buy one and share the cost with my sister in law as she is due at the end of the year so we thought it would work out cheaper.

I'm sure there are a few adds in the back of some of the 'pregancy' magazines.

ebay is pretty good for these- New. watch out for the seller known as dopplermike- he is well recomended. Debating what to do myself and am due in 5 weeks so better get a move on if i am gonna get one!!

tribpot · 06/07/2005 12:23

I bought mine from here , extremely prompt service.

MissChief · 06/07/2005 12:28

boots sell too.

Nik72 · 06/07/2005 12:32

I got mine from TENShire . They were very good & have subsequently lent it to 2 people so makes it more cost effective.

Nik72 · 06/07/2005 12:33

meant to add - tried Boots but their tens wasn't an obstetric one

MissChief · 06/07/2005 12:35

is there a difference then? i was recommended the boots one last time via ante-natal classes and got it. It seemed fine, tho could have been more powerful at times!

Nik72 · 06/07/2005 12:38

not sure if there is a difference but i got the boots one and the instructions said NOT FOR USE IN LABOUR so i promptly took it back!!

Dalesgirl · 07/07/2005 11:23

I got one from TENShire. The service was very good but the damn thing irritated me so much that I ripped it off my back and threw it across the rooms when the s* hit the fan.....! I just wasn't patient enough I guess....give me the drugs anyday.

flowerfairy · 07/07/2005 11:48

I had mine form Natures gate i think it was, very prompt service and I seem to remember that I could have it for about 8 weeks where as some others say 6 weeks and additional payments after for extra time if you happen to go overdue.

Flum · 07/07/2005 22:09

Tenscare are the most technologically advanced.

serah · 08/08/2005 21:47

I got mine from where Tribpot did - extremely friendly and fast/efficient service and then I got to sell mine on Ebay for £46, so it worked out cheaper than hiring anyway!

mummyhill · 08/08/2005 21:51

There is a difference between boots over the counter and the obstetric ones. Many hospitals will not let you use them unless they are obstetric due to a risk of them interfering with monitoring equipment. I found the one i rented nearly 4 years ago to be more of an iritation than a help though.

mogwai · 09/08/2005 23:01

Irritated the hell out of me, too. Seemed to intensify the pain actually. I persevered with it but wouldn't use one again, it was pants

homemama · 11/08/2005 13:58

My Boots one actually stated that it was for use in labour. You could hire or buy. To hire it was £50 for 1mth with £25 of that being a refundable deposit. IMO it was fab, I couldn't have got through early labour without it.
