Is sudden back pain anything significant?

I was in the supermarket with DS this pm and had a lot of Braxton type tightenings but seemed stronger than usual - I've been getting them for weeks. I then developed really strong back pain in my lower back on the right - to the point that walking became a bit challenging. Almost like a trapped nerve.

It's eased off a bit now, been sitting on my ball and crawling (well I did have a 2 and half year old to entertain and bath) which has helped quite a lot. In fact I have an almost constant desire to be on all 4's which believe me is not usual.

Is this likely to be the start does anyone think or should I assume it will all go awaya again? Bloody induction last time means I have no idea what the early stages of spontaneous labour are like.

Have had quite a lot of discharge in last few days but no show or anything.

hey wasabs sounds very promising. imo it could either be 1) trapped nerve
2) baby's weird positioning
3) the BEGINNING!!!!!

i have heard that urge to be on all 4s is often followed by labour.

Good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi B,

Hope you're having some action! Am pretty sure baby isn't posterior as I can feel the back slightly diagonally across the front of my bump. Has been consistently "back to front" at all my check ups.

Aaarrrghhh I hope this happens soon for both of us.....

Ooooh and I think I am having the beginnings of a show as well! Will spare details at this point....

Ooh fingers crossed

I'm 38 weeks today and have been having really strong BHs and period type cramps... My waters went early last time so like you I don't know what it's supposed to be like.

Good luck!

Any news wasabi? I thought I was on the way last night with similar symptoms, rigid tummy and feeling queasy and odd. Had lovely hot bath to ease back pain and all settled down - very annoying!

Well that was a big fuss about nothing! I went to bed at about 9.30 as was so knackered, woke a few times in the night but nothing major. Nothing doing this morning bar more Braxtons!

Good job really as I am meant to be writing up a case study now, not muckign about on MN.

Oh well.

Damn babies! This is your 2nd isnt is wasabipeanut??

I keep getting pains and aches. I am so hoping that I 'know' when it is real.

wasabipeanut · 22/01/2010 19:19

Hi mama2moo, yep it is my 2nd but omly my 1st spontaneous labour (I hope!)

Trying to keep up with my DS is really getting to me now. Hoiking him in and out of the car seat is getting bloody difficult!

Like you I am getting so many aches and pains. I seem to have tightening sensations all the time but all anyone ever says when you say "how will I know?" is "You will." I have synto induced contractions as my reference point so would be surprised if they are as bad of that in the first part of labour.

I dunno - I suppose we'll find out soon enough!

I have given up taking dd out on my own now. We do lots of colouring, reading and watching Cbeebies .

I went into labour with dd 2 days before my due date. The contractions started like mild period pains that got stronger.

I am quite excited about how it will start this time. Maybe I am about to experience induced labour. What I do know is that once its done and the baby is here I am going to want her back in so that I can sleep
