Cold and labour

Much to my joy, I've managed to catch a cold at 39+3. My nose is all blocked up and I'm really annoyed at the prospect of going into labour with a stuffy nose - how on earth am I supposed to do any deep breathing through my nose?!? Have had a few odd contractions during the night but usually nothing during the day so I'm hoping I may have a few days' grace to get better.

Has anyone given birth while sick?

Emmie im sorry your not feeling well esp at this stage!

Im a day ahead of you and have also been ill, highly recommend hot honey and lemon drinks, you can take paracetamol so dont be afraid to take some for the respite!

Someone told me a few days ago adrenilin kicks in when you need it...... when my waters went 36 hours ago sure as I was able to speak (got laryngitis) and im sure this is down to adremilin.

Plenty of bed rest is best! (i know you prob getting plenty already!) Hope your better in time!

I had a dreadful cold in the week leading up to ds's birth. It didn't improve when I went into labour and I actually lost my voice so couldn't really speak and spent the whole time blowing my nose. My first request after giving birth was for someone to bring me in a box of those balsam Kleenex tissues.

Not sure how it affected my "performance" during the birth but remember that sipping water helped as the hospital environment was so hot and dry.

Good luck and hope it clears up for you.
