Hi Guys, just wondering if you could give me your experiences of this condition? I'm 35 + 5 with my first, suffer crazy itching on my arms/legs - esp at night. Seroid creams/moisturiser not really helping Had a blood test last week and this week my GP advised that my liver function was not normal - so there is a question mark over this condition.

The GP will speak with my mw, who I am seeing later today.

Just wondered what your experiences are?

Hi,
I have this, am 26 weeks (27 tomorrow). My liver function varies between normal and odd - most often my bile salts are the indicator that I have this condition.

I have the steroid cream but i don't find it helps. I was prescribed Piriton and this does help - if nothing else it helps me to sleep!

Find the itching pretty awful and I suppose it will only get worse as my pg progresses. Am delivering the baby at 38 weeks as a combined result of this and other complications.

Hope your GP is helpful.

Had this with both pregnancies, and was induced early on both occasions. Between diagnosis and delivery was given drugs (Ursodeoxycholic Acid) which seemed to help a little bit, otherwise can only recommend ice baths for your feet (piriton did nothing for me). It is very uncomfortable, and worrying, but my feeling is that once the doctors have identified the condition and are monitoring you, everything should be fine. Good information from the OC support site www.ocsupport.org.uk/ Good luck, and come back if you have more questions!

Just to let you know that the midwife has spoken to the hospital and has requested that a bile acid test be done on Tuesday also - so hopefully will get some more clarity then.
