Lochia question

Hi ladies,

I had DD2 by ELCS 2 weeks ago and still have bright red lochia..it has never been very heavy, infect i have been suprised at how little i have had compared to after DD1's birth (also ELCS) For 3 days now though i have noticed it is gushing a couple of times a day. Not a lot but more than it has been. It doesn't smell or anything, no unusual pains just soreness which is getting better each day. Is it normal to still be bright red after 14 days? Im a bit worried that ive caused the extra bleeding after a horrid bout of constipation/straining after the section..

Thanks for reading!

Hi - are you breast feeding? I had a regular delivery and mine would always be bright red and a bit more profuse after a feed because of the contractions of the womb caused by DD suckling.
I did in the end have some retained stuff and needed antibiotics but they realised this becasue I was passing chunks of stuff - apologies if TMI - and I got pain with it too. The cycle would be bright red bleed, followed by bits of mebrane, tissue, whatever and then it would tail off for a day or two. Then it would come back.
I'd pop to the GP if it's still red after the weekend though, just to be on the safe side. They kept repeating to me over and over to call 999 if I got a "gush" which made me very, very paranoid in the end, in case I collapsed and couldn't get to the phone.
