Hi ladies, im suffering badly at the moment with laryngitis following on from bronchitus and a cold at the same time! Im feeling super rough and can barely talk i sound quite pathetic really!

Im 38 weeks pregnant and hoping baby stays where he is till i am better but am so worried about him coming when im ill.

I am on antibiotics, paracetamol and eating halls cough sweets for the slight relief they give me (checked with midwife who said was fine). Drinking nothing bit honey and lemon and this has been going on now since Wednesday last week!

Anyone have suggestions how i can make myself better, please dont say rest as rest is all I have done for weeks now and I have had enough. No way i could give birth like this........

Sorry that you're feeling rough. However, the bad news is that laryngitis is just one of those things (I get it regularly, so know) that you just have to try to talk as little as possible until your voice comes back properly. My record is 9 days with absolutely no voice. You might find a steam inhalation might help - if something like menthol, you should be OK - but check the instructions first.

Poor thing - that sounds rough. I had a very nasty cold/cough when I went into labour with DD2. My active birth teacher assured me that I wouldn't go into labour when I was poorly as the body waits until you are strong enough. This turned out to be complete nonsense in my case, BUT my cough and cold miraculously disappeared for the 15 hours or so I was in labour, only to return again completely unabated the day after. It wasn't just that I didn't notice - the symptoms really disappeared. Maybe it's the adrenalin, who knows? So I hope you are better in good time but if not, don't despair.

I had Erin 3 weeks ago in the middle of a cold. Whilst I was in hospital the cold was 'on hold', but hated stuffiness of being in there. It finally went last week!

adrenaline has an amazing ability to reduce almost all the annoying symptoms of a cold or virus.

this is a survival thingy.

so even if you don't recover completely before the big day it won't be as bad as you think.

good luck

thanks ladies the cold has pretty much gone only a bit of snot left. Main problem is the laryngitis, still taking the antibiotics and praying my voice will come back.

Might end up screaming for epi or screaming i need to push and no one will be able to hear me Must stop worrying!
