What did you experience in early labour?

I have been crying since last night when dp refused to give me a foot massage - I then cried again this morning for no reason.

I have been having period type pains and back ache this morning.

But, I have had these in the last week at night that havent come to anything.

Im 37+5 and this is dc2. Dd's labour was easy to recognise, waters leaked then contractions started the next day.

Funnily enough dp went to work this morning saying 'I think this is a good day to have a baby'.

Am I just wanting it to be labour? Could the crying mean something?

I cried every day after I went past 40wks with my ds, getting gradually more hysterical everyday! ... still had to be induced at 14 days overdue though!

Hope it happens for you soon though.

The crying could mean your'e pregnant, but I'm not sure...

We get a bit hormonal towards the end of pregnancy (ah, who am I kidding, from the moment you pee on a stick that is!!) and we tend to look at everything as "a sign" of the upcoming labour (I got a letter in the mailbox when I was 37wks reminding me to open a savings account for my future children, and was sure it was a sign! needless to say it took me an extra 2wks to give birth to DS )

So just wait, there's not much you can do about it now...See if the back aches and cramping turn into something a bit more "real".

Good luck!!

Thanks both, I think I was really hoping it was a sign of early labour

The cramps are still coming and going but nothing to even think about. Damn babies

I got a Migraine about 4 days before, then again 12 hours before.

Hi

I was in early labour for 1 week, i had severe period like pains, severe lower back ache and was generally really uncomfteble, i couldnt sit still because i was in pain.

This was classed as early labour.

when i had a sweep at 40+1 they said to me i was 4cm dilated.
She also said to me this is why you have been in pain because you are in labour.

as i said i had been in early labour for 1 week.

Pains round the bum!
Thought I was constipated!

laughalot · 15/01/2010 13:59

I had period pains nothing else. Good luck

just a build up of braxton hicks in the last week but nothing else to shout about until labour had definately kicked in with full on contractions (after a day of reflexology, aromatherapy, a sweep, curry, sex for the first time in 2 weeks and lots of tears!)

The first I knew was when I woke up at about 5am in a damp patch where my waters had started seeping. The rest of the day I had the mildest of mild contractions, which then stopped completely overnight after the rest of the waters went in a big gush at 11pm (fortunately I happened to be standing in a bath at the time!).

Has anything happened yet?
