Private rooms at King's in Camberwell?

Am trying to find out about booking a private room at King's College Hospital in SE London following a planned c-section. Nobody at the hospital seems to know how this is booked or how much it costs, although they insist it is possible. Very confusing! Has anyone done this successfully?

hi I had a look round Kings today and asked about private rooms. The midwife said there are some but implied that they're nowhere near the postnatal ward and midwives would have to come and see you?A bit odd I thought but I didn't question it.She also said they were for people who had babies in special care.SO all in all not very positive!Sorry not much help there, keep trying I suppose?

Well, there's certainly some confusion about this among the staff at King's. Had a good phone round i.e wild goose chase) today and finally got hold of the postnatal coordinator who finally confirmed that they do not have private rooms for women who are not private patients at King's. The Guthrie ward (private) used to take women who'd just given birth but they stopped doing it as it was just too awkward in terms of after care - the private ward was nowhere near the postnatal ward, etc.

They do have a few single rooms on the normal PN ward - I was lucky to have one last time as I had twins, which is why I'd love to have one this time too. But they are allocated on the basis of need, i.e. traumatic birth, loss, baby in SCBU, multiples, etc. I was told it's definitely worth asking for one - if there's one free you might just get it, but it is not that likely if you have had a straightforward, normal delivery. Which I suppose is fair enough, really.
