If you had a c-section for placenta praevia, how much earlier than your due date did they do the op?

I've just been given an initial consultant's appointment for 2 weeks before my due date, but I thought this was when they scheduled the c-section for so as to be sure you wouldn't go in to labour naturally first.

Can you tell me your experiences? I have phoned the department but they're very short-staffed so not sure when they'll be able to get back to me.

Hmm, not sure but posting to bump and watching with interest. Similar here: I have an automatic consultant's appt for 34 weeks, because of having had a previous emergency section, but at my 20 week scan the sonographer said I had a low-lying placenta and would need another scan later -- then I got an appt in the post to have that scan when I'm 36 weeks.

Planning to ask my midwife about it at 28 week appt as it all seems a bit out of sequence.

I've been booked in for another scan at 36 weeks apparently, although not had date/time confirmed yet, but the midwife says it's highly unlikely to move now (am 35 weeks) so we need to plan for c-section.

Just seemed odd to only meet the consultant at 38 weeks - am wondering if they'll keep me in and do it there and then, which is a bit of a scary prospect!

I had this with my second.
Looks as if it didn´t show until 28 weeks.
I was scanned at 31 weeks, 34 weeks & 36 weeks.
At last scan it was "clear"-so I gave birth naturally.

had mine at 36 weeks, consultant concerned because grade IV previa.

lucky that was as i was starting having contractions while waiting to go into theatre.
