Dp and I are on the verge of splitting up (Im 36 weeks pg with an 18mo dd together)

I dont want him there when I give birth so want him to drop me off and come home to look after dd. I will then let him know once its all done and for him to pick me up.

Can you just turn up on your own with your bags? Do you need someone there in case anything goes wrong?

Sorry to hear that m2m. I'm pretty sure you don't need someone there with you - it's afterwards that they worry about.

But for your peace of mind, is there anyone else who could help? Friend/relative?

You can arrive on your own. It is nice if you can take someone along for moral support though, doesn't have to be DP. It is pretty overwhelming and the midwives don't always stay with you but pop off out to do whatever it is they need to do.

As long as they have next of kin details they do not mind but personally I would try and take along someone to keep me company. Having someone beside you when you really feel like you cannot push anymore makes a big difference.

There is no one else I would want there. I wasnt going to have him there for the actual birth anyway but sat outside to be called straight in.

He was there for dd's birth but I found him a distraction and sent him off twice!

Im also worried about how I will be emotionally afterwards if he is there knowing that thats it IYSWIM.

Yeah. I understand. As long as you feel you can do it alone then go for it. Turn up on your own and call him if/when needed afterwards.

Good luck.
