40+7 - got a sweep tomorrow, how likely is it to work?

Am overdue and totally brassed of. Got cervical sweep tmz, do they usually work or is it as hit and miss as say having sex or other methods?

Am pinning my hopes on it too much - feel I need to get a reality check! Am losing my chance to have my much planned home birth as induction is looming.

TIA x

oh dear, good luck. this is my fear, that i will have to be induced again (with DC2 as i was with DC1) and will lose my homebirth. let us know how it goes!

Both of mine were born at 40+8, the day after a sweep in both cases! (And I managed my home birth with DS2!) Could be coincidence, but I thought someone should be optimistic for you!

I think it depends on the sweep... or rather on who gives it.
I had one with dc1 and it was really painful, whilst it was happening... contractions started straight away and I was back a few hours later ready to give birth!
With dc2 I asked for one as it worked so well before... I barely felt the MW do anything and nothing happened.

Is this your first baby? If yes, then the chances are slim.
