Head fully engaged - how long till labour starts?!

A fortnight ago the head was 2/5th engaged but on NYE morning the doc confirmed the head is now fully engaged and said "the baby could come any day now but they come when they are ready". I just wondered, how long was it for other MNer's before baby turned up?

Thanks

My dd1 was engaged at 34wks and was born at 40+3.
My ds was still 'free' the morning I was induced at 42wks.
My dd2 was 'free' at 12noon and was born at 5am at 40+2.
Good luck

I'm 35 weeks and 2 days now and the head is 3/5ths engaged. I felt it drop about a week ago. Not sure whether to get excited or not. Maybe at least packing my hospital bag would be a good idea!

How's it going for you Blondie?

Um well it feels like tempting fate to type this - but no sign of baby yet (and with more snow forecast, I'd be quite grateful if he/she could wait until the weekend!)

Thanks all for the replies and good luck GracieGirl

well i don't think my dds' heads engaged until during labour!

good luck

Can't remember with dd, but don't think was fully engaged until birth.

With ds head was fully engaged at 38 weeks but popped back up to 4/5ths and back again over the next three weeks. Ds finally born at 41+3 - as punctual as his mother.

Good luck!
