Somebody tell me it's possible to have a nice delivery following 2 PPH's

I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my 4th and the last 2 births were lovely but spoiled by horrific PPH's where I lost a lot of blood and even more dignity (with hands up my fanjo pulling out stuff)

I' m totally expecting another one but it would be nice to hear of anyone who has had a normal delivery after having 2 (or even 1).

I had a nasty PPH after my first delivery, resulting in staying in the delivery suite for 19 hours after DD was born, rigged up to a drip and unable to move, hold her, feed her etc.

At the time, due to an amazing midwife, I didn't fully comprehend the severity of what was going on, but started to panic a bit when my blood loss was heavy on the ward after DC2 was born.

However, DC3 popped out in 45 minutes flat, no excessive bleeding, no bother of any sort.

I've taken a bit of a head-in-the-sand approach to my PPH so can't give any sound medical advice, but yes.... I am here as proof that it is possible to have subsequent problem-free deliveries.

Good luck with yours.

Hi. I had a very similar experience to you both with DS2 - incredibly frightening, and am prone to crying if I have to recount it even now. However, I have since had DS3, and had no problems afterwards, and am currently pregnant with DC4. I am very nervous about it happening again, but the hospital are managing my pregnancy/birth in a different way (e.g. growth scans, preparing me with canula (sp?) in case of need for drip, extra third stage injection) so I feel that everything will be in place if the worst happens.

I really hope all goes well for you - I'm sure there's no reason why there is any great risk if you are looked after properly.

I had slight PPH after DD2 (VBAC) and then massive blood loss after my 2nd section, about 3.5 litres. Was very ill and rushed back to theatre for repair of arteries which had ruptured after the op. It was touch and go and was wired up in HDU for 3 days. Anyway my next birth was elective c/s and I was so so scared but all went totally normally, had a top consultant and blood ready which luckily didn't need.
