Am I on my way? is labour around the corner?

Sorry am going mental waiting around. I'm 40 +2, second baby. Had a show on Boxing Day eve, then more his morning. Last night had sharp pains in my pelvic region - not period type pains tho, so not sure if the 'right' kind of pain.

Does any of this sound like I'm on my way? Have no back pain tho, and everyone seems to tell me this is essential.

BTW I know this is my 2nd, but I didn't have a natural start with my DD. I was chemically induced so have no idea what real labour feels like!

I didn't have a show until labour actually started - which felt like dull ache when it did kick off. Achey feeling came and went every 10/15 mins which was how I knew it was labour as not like braxton hicks. There was no back pain - all in the pelvic region.

I had sharp pains in the days before, which I think was DS jabbing around.

I know people who've had shows quite a few days before - but a show means that you are on your way but couldn't say how close!

Try relaxing by going for a long walk to take your mind off things (I know it's hard - I was 40+8). Maybe indulge yourself - watch a film, eat your fav meal, have a bath. The day before I went into labour, I rifled through loads of old pictures which had me reminiscing (sp?) and I think relaxed me subsconsciously.

Congratulations!

If you are starting, then things may take a long time to progress. Relax.

I knew when my labour had kicked in as the pain was like period pain but so strong that rocking back and forward on the toilet seat was the only relief!

thanks guys, you've made me feel that I may be on the way. Have been for a nice long walk and visited the in laws to keep my mind occupied!

I avoided my ILs in late pregnancy as they couldn't stop talking about my due date, especially when I went over!

Could be labour starting. It can take a long time to establish itself though. Back pain isn't essential.

Keep upright, active and relaxed if you can.

Keep us posted.
