C-Section - having a bath after

Does anyone know how long I should wait until having a bath after a C-Section? It's been 2 weeks so far and both midwife and HV say wound is healing very well. I occas. get a couple of hrs between feeds and would love to have a soak in all my nice smellies that people have bought me as gifts...

I had baths after my CSs before I left hospital, just didn't have a long soak.

So I can't see any problem having one now, esp if you are healing fine.

It can be harder to pull yourself out of the bath again though so make sure there is someone around if you feel a bit stuck in there

Others will probably say it's absolutely fine, but I'd avoid the smellies. My wound was said to have been healing fine at two weeks too, but I did go on to get an external infection that had to be treated with antibacterial cream.

If you do use smellies, can you make sure you rinse the area really well with clean water after? And obviously dry it really well after.

Put some lavender oil in your bath (for healing and antibac) and jsut be careful about getting out of the bath as you don't want to strain anything internal or external.

I found the best way is to roll over in the bath, get on all fours, then stand up.

Make sure you pat your scar dry and let it air dry.
