I had dd there 18 months ago and found it really good.

Just wondered if anyone has been there more recently. My local hospital is Yeovil but Im not a fan. Thanks.

Several of my friends did - all had good births but were less struck with the aftercare (same story for me, though 4 and 6 years ago now).

At the moment the health care trust is very deeply in debt and there will be drastic cutbacks made ere long - at one point they were talking about doing away with SCBU, but they backtracked on that, thankfully.

There are current issues with cleanliness and hospital-borne infection too (this was not so bad when I had the dds). Dh's grandmother is in there at the moment (though not Maternity lol) and we are a little concerned about all this.

Having said all that, I think all the midwives I have encountered there have been fab and the maternity unit continues to have a good rep.

They very nearly shut the maternity unit recently due to money shortages but have decided to keep it open.

When I had dd there the after care wasnt great but I liked it that was as I could just get on with it!

Maybe I will take some cleaning wipes and hand gel etc. My local hospital isnt great for cleanliness either.

Why cant they just clean them properly.
