Kettering General Hospital - your experiences please

Hi ladies, am getting a bit nervous about some of the things i have heard about KGH, am currently 15 weeks pg, and would just like yo hear your experiences of your time there, both for child birth and antenatal classes etc.

I'm sorry but what you've heard is probably true! After having my daughter I was left for over 2 hours in a wet bed where my waters had broke so was wet right up to my waist. The dirt in the room was awful as well. Good luck to you anyway!!

I'm 35 wks and am planning a homebirth, however the sonographers are all nice there! When I mentioned Kettering's reputation to my MW she seemes genuinely suprised. So don't know if they've improved recently. As for antenatal classes you don't have to use the ones at the hospital (I didn't know they did them there tbh). Ask your MW where all your local classes are held. There's always Wellingborough, Rushden etc that have classes too.

I have nothing to compare it to but I had my baby 2 weeks ago and can't say enough for the staff. The midwife who delivered my baby was wonderful. Yes I was sat in my mess for a bit but I had a lovely time bonding with my baby and would not have wanted to be disturbed to change the sheets. When it was time to clean up they ran me a bath. I was not so impressed with the staff on the ward where I stayed over night but don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it and you will be fine.
The classes were informative and again I have nothing to compare it too but they seemed to go through all the important stuff and the lady who took my class was also lovely and approachable. I think it really does depend on who you get.
