In early labour - not sure what to do...

Hi all,

I've been having contractions for about 30 hours now - about 15 mins apart except for when i was in bed last night when they were 30 mins apart.

I'm tired now but don't know if I should try to sleep and risk slowing the momentum because i'm lying down or should i keep moving around and try to keep things going?

This evening the contractions have been 15 mins then 7 mins then 5 mins - then i tried to relax and they went to 10 mins again.

Any advice from you professionals?

Ta.

Sleep if you can, you'll need the energy and when it gets to the real thing you won't be able to sleep! Good luck.

Agree sleep. It won't be long whichever way and you'll need the energy

good luck

if you can op off to bed and have a sleep then do so. the contractions willwake you when you need to be awake.

this early loooong labour bit is shite - feel knackered and not really getting anywhere but you are really.

have you spoken to your midwife / labour ward?

Also good luck - and how very exciting a whole new person on his/her way!

I'm not a professional, but have had 4 babies.

I'd say go to bed

if you're in proper labour you will wake up before the baby arrives!

sounds like you're in pre-labour, which could go on for days yet (sorry!). If you don't sleep now you might well regret it later.

Hope you've not got much longer to wait anyway

winnybella · 08/12/2009 22:56

It seems like you will not have to wait for much longer now!
I agree, sleep if you can, as that will leave you refreshed for birth and looking after the lo.

A massive vote from me for sleep

Awww how wonderful a new life on its way...it is the most special and precious thing.

If baby arrives tomorrow it will share its birthday with Donny Osmond (52 tomorrow) and me!!! (53 tomorrow) will also be a nutty Sagittarian

Good luck and keep us posted xxx
