What to pack in my ELCS pre-op hospital bag

My last pregnancy ended in an EMCS so I have a fair idea what I'm going to need when DD and I get to the ward after my ELCS (toiletries and clean clothes and lot and lots of maternity pads ) but I have no idea what to pack for pre-op!

Is it just a case of bringing something to fill the time? Do I need a dressing gown or will I be on my back with blankets? I'm not sure how early they're likely to get the epidural going or how long I might be waiting...

If you can avoid the fanjo trim at the hospital, and do it at home with some help, all the better.

Can't remember what i brought with me tho. Maybe some nice hand cream

I waited a good five hours for my elcs and didn't get changed into my backless gown till an hour before.

epidural and lying on your back won't come untl you are in theatre about 10 minutes befor you meet babe.

fanjo trim before you leave home - saves some random stranger going at you with the clippers.
take a trashy magzine and wear some comfy cothes for hanging about in. and a snack for DP.

Thank you for the advice guys. It's good to know that the epidural and gown come right at the end. I'll go in wearing some comfy trackies rather than jeans and something I can strip down in case I have to wait on the maternity ward and it's hot.

The stranger with the clippers is probably a safer bet than my DH! I haven't been able to see down there for a long time now.

They've asked me to do it before coming in though so I guess I'll have to trust him.

SO just loads of things to fill time then? Mags, books etc? I shall dig out the travel Connect 4, that worked last time. I wish my human DS hadn't put my Nintendo DS in the bin, it'd be really handy right now!

You could do it yourself with a little mirror..... that's what I did and it was fine! Agree with needed things to do to pass the time as you may be kept waiting. Good luck!

I'm not sure even a mirror would help me!

I've got excess fluid and a large baby and will be developing my own gravitational pull soon !!

remember to take some flip flops/slippers to walk to theatre in!

Title : I thought you had bought your bag from the Early Learning Centre

What would an Early Learning Center Operation involve I wonder?

I'm already rounded and pink
