Womb infection following retained products

Ok - 3rd time lucky as have started other threads and had no replies!!

Has anyone had a womb infection following retained products?

I have hemorrhaged 3 times since the birth of DS2 9 weeks ago, and on the 3rd time was finally scanned for RPOC, which there were. I had a D&C to removed and then IV anti-biotics.

The ABs didn't work and I still have the infection (now 4 weeks post D&C and almost 10 weeks post birth).

So has this happened to anyone else? I'm terrified of hemorrhaging again and the next one being really bad, or it affecting my future fertility.

All I can find are threads saying "better than getting a womb infection as they are really nasty" which quite frankly, is terrifying!

What's the latest anyone's had a womb infection, and what complications did you have, or did they clear up fairly quickly once treated with the correct ABs?

Hello! I'm really sorry I can't give you any reassurance from personal experience (I have had a womb infection as a result of retained products but it cleared up quite quickly with antibiotics). However, a good friend had a horrendous experience when she lost a baby at about 20 weeks, and subsequently got a series of womb infections which required hospitalisation, etc, a lot of blood loss. It did clear up and all was fine. Anyway, I'm telling you this because she has since had a baby, and all was absolutely fine, no problems with conceiving or carrying the baby at all. Sorry I can't give more information than that though, I hope someone else comes along soon.
