Hello

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this so please let me know if there is somewhere more appropriate.

I had my little girl 8 weeks ago. I had an episiotomy and ventouse delivery. I am not sure if the episiotomy has healed up properly. I thought it had and this morning forced myself to have sex for the first time. I know that sounds terrible but I was pretty nervous as this was my first baby and I feel like I am different 'down below'.

Anyway...it was uncomfortable, possibly due to nerves...though it did get better as we went on!!! but all day since when I go to the toilet I smell different...I smell fishy. I don't think it is infected at all, sure I would have noticed, I just wonder if anyone else had this?

thanks in advance, this really is an embarrasing thing to talk about!

Hope your feeling alright now willow... I had epi with my Ds2 (had em cs wit Ds1) and it was closer to 3months when i tried sex after... I made sure to use lubriciation (jus some olive oil) as i was scared too and it was def uncomfy at first too but relaxed a bit... it felt wierd down there for me too, like really tight and not normal for a long time, sex did not return to normal for ages we had to take it real slowly but doin it was da only way to Make it get any easier if ya know wat i mean... i think its fairly normal cause my g.p said it can take a long time to be fully painfree down there... Dono about da smell mayb some salty water baths could help? HTH

Have all your stitches come out? I seem to have a problem in that disolvable stitches sort of never do (have had them at both ends of my body for various things!), they just go smelly and I have to pull / have them pulled out. I was convinced I could smell my epi ones rotting (sorry if TMI), and it stopped once I had the midwife remove them. Have a look! HTH.

thanks for your replies. I went to Dr today who had a look and said that I had had a deep episiotomy and that it was still pretty raw deep down in there. lovely! no wonder it was uncomfortable. I have been told no 'action' for a while. the joy of child birth ey?
