Finally went in at 19.30 on monday eve, was given new thing called Propess which is like a tampon that stays in for 24 hours releasing prostin slowly.
I eventually started contracting at about 4pm, they got stronger and close together but on examination wasnt dilating (cervix still 1-2cm and not effaced).
Of course it had to come out then at the 24 hour mark, and the contractions stopped completely.
They gave me oethidine overnight (just to stop me whinging I think ) and I slept better than I have in months.

So this morning the doctor came to see me and said they will try one more prostin gel, give it 8 hours and if Im not dilating it will be a CS

I cant really believe it, after 2 normal deliveries the last thing I expected was a possible CS. Am nervous, scared about a whole host of new things now

Ive nipped home secretly for the 2nd day in a row to shower and wash hair etc, the consultant led unit is a grotty horrible dump, I hate it there cant wait to be home for good with new bub, however he comes out!

Please send me good dilating vibes for today, TIA

Oh heck. Just saw your other thread and thought baby had come. Of course you had had enough time between then and posting now. That bump on the head has clearly done damage.

I was stuck on 1 cm for hours and hours with 2 and 3 and then bam, 10cm and baby out in 20/7minutes.

You might do the same.

mosschops30 · 25/11/2009 14:35

now that sounds like my type of delivery

Ive been at this for days though, and my cervix is more elusive than Osama Bin Ladan, half of the mw's can barely find it its so high up and far back.

How are you feeling about having a section and do you have all the help you will need?

slightlycrumpled · 25/11/2009 14:45

Oh mosschops, I have been reading your other threads (and sending good birthing vibes natch) but just wanted to let you know a vaginal birth isn't off the cards yet. With DS2 I was in hospital for two days having prostin gel etc, and my cervix was not playing the game. At the end of the second day they examined me and said probable c section tomorrow as cervix is too closed to even break waters etc. Three hours later he was born to a very shocked mummy!

Good luck, you really have created a very cosy home for your baby, and c-section or not you will be meeting your baby very soon.

mosschops30 · 25/11/2009 15:06

thanks slightly hoping same for me!!

fab hadnt even considered a c section so totally unprepared for it. Will worry tomrrow when its a done deal . Dh back to work after next week though, he only got 2 weeks off and this one is half gone already

I had an emergency section with number 1 so it was easier as only me and the cat to look after, as well as the baby.

Don't do too much. Don't carry anything other than the baby. Rest as much as possible. If the bleeding stops and then comes back, you are doing too much.

Tomatefarcie · 25/11/2009 17:36

Mosschops,

DD2 was induced with gel and god knows what else. My cervix was nowhere to be seen, I saw loads of different midwives shift changing, then finally the consultant gave up and said I could go home for a 24 hr break. He said "we'll try again in a couple of days". EEEEK! I had been examined so many times, contracting for nothing as they were "fake contractions" for 2 days. Gutted.

However, I packed my bag to go home, but never made it to the hospital car park. DD2 was born in 37 minutes from 2cm dilated to fully dilated, placenta out, everything. Consultant said it had nothing to do with the gels as everything was out of my system.

Sending you lots of sudden labour vibes!!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 25/11/2009 17:39

Oh good luck Mosschops, hope you get to avoid c-section, but if you have to, i hope you make a speedy recovery and get out and home with your lovely baby soon x

OmicronPersei8 · 25/11/2009 17:41

Oh mosschops, sorry to hear the no baby yet! I'll have my fingers crossed for you again, whether you have a speedy labour or a lovely calm cs (very different to an emcs), you'll be meeting you baby soon.

HeadFairy · 25/11/2009 17:42

good luck mosschops (we've bumped bumps elsewhere around here I think ) I hope baby chops arrives without the need for a section, but having had one el cs I can tell you it's nothing dreadful, just annoying as hell if you don't want one! I didn't have any post op pain or infection, but it was my first so like Fab, was probably lucky in that respect (ie didn't have other dcs to look after)

ilovemydogandmrobama · 25/11/2009 17:43

yeah, I had one of the registrars come around in the evening to book in the c-section after induction failed. Needless to say, didn't have a c-section....

HeartOfCrystal · 26/11/2009 09:43

Goodluck today mosschops, i hope you made some progress yesterday/through the night.

And congratulations either way, let us know how you and the baby are when your home.

All the best
xx

Thinking of you moss!!

PacificDogwood · 27/11/2009 07:58

Good luck, mosschops!

Hope dilation does happen for you after all.

FWIW, I had emCS with DS2, not the mode of delivery I would have wished for, but really truly was not a terrible experience either. Recovery was quicker than I had feared.

But nonetheless, really hope you will not need this gem of a story to reassure, as you are going to dilate.

What do they teach you in NCT classes? Imagine you are a lotus flower opening at dawn . Go on, do some visualisations...

Best wishes and good vibes

GibbonInARibbon · 27/11/2009 08:01

waddlelikeaduck · 27/11/2009 08:31

Hi Mosschops!

I ended up in on sunday as it all started naturally (day before induction!) but ended up with an emcs - not ideal, but not too bad... stayed in until wed pm and now back so hopefully you'll be home soon too!

take care!

Waddle

Joycey29 · 27/11/2009 12:50

mosschops hope the baby is out one way or another!

waddlelikeaduck · 28/11/2009 11:41

I had a little girl, weighed 8 lbs (3636), absolutely gorgeous and she was weighed again yesterday and is only down to 3620!
