Post-birth back ache / numb fingers..?

Gave birth to my wonderful little man 12 days ago. Had a normal birth, with a TENS, and had an epidural started although it didn't have time to kick in at all before I gave birth (went from 6cm to 10cm in a matter of minutes).

The midwife has told me its normal to still have back ache for up to six weeks afterwards, but does anyone have any tips on how to ease it off? DP is having to do all the changes as its simply too painful for me to bend down.

Also, I seem to have almost permenantly numb fingers in at least one had. Could this be connected at all? I have ME/CFS, so it could be related to that, but I haven't had it before. Again, any tips would be much appriciated!

TIA.

Hello m'dear!
After I had DS I had numb fingertips in my left hand - the hand they put the drip in. Do you have numb fingers in both hands or just the one? Did you have a drip when you gave birth, I think you said you did.
Anyway, it could possibly be that. When I asked the doc he said there might be some nerve damage from the canula and it would take some weeks for the nerves to 'grow back' (!) The numbness did eventually go but it took a month or two for sensation to completely return.

I would mention it to the mw or HV, backache is common after an epi but it's worth raising just in case.
