Post CS huge air-filled abdomen - solutions?

Had a successful ECS under a week ago. Only oddity is that my tum is still HUGE. Not just baby fat - it sounds hollow when tapped and I look 7 or 8 months pg. MW says it's air and drinking peppermint tea will help. Any MN out there have experience of this?

I would suggest it's swollen because of the bruising rather than air. But you could try ginger tea rather than peppermint. That helped me more after I had abdominal surgery.

But have you checked out you don't have an incisional hernia (I got one from my last cs), if you lie down, does the lump suddenly disappear?

I've had this both after my last section and after other abdominal surgery - both times I was told it was gas. The peppermint tea solution is the one I went for and seemed to work. Also try moving your body around to different angles etc but I know that's easier said than done post CS.

Is it your first baby? The post pregnancy tummy can be a tad disconcerting without the extra gas issue . It does change rapidly though.

Congrats on your baby!

whomoved nothing really changes when I lie down. The whole tum is quite soft. I'm sure you are right that there is some swelling from bruising too.
Weegie, yes it is my first but have seen my sister post preg and I was prepared for a decent sized belly. This is in a whole other class! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's had this. Will take your suggestion and keep extra mobile. How much peppermint tea did you actually get through to get the benefit?

Are you able to squat down? This can ahem push some air out if you do it a few times. You could deflate a la the fat kid in Charlie and the Chocolate factory

After i had my fist cs the lady in the next bed advised me to ask the midwife for pepermint oil. They put it in warm water and you drink it, it helps to dispurse the gas. It worked and i shall be asking for it again when i have the next one is 7 weeks. Holland and barret sell it its the japaniese pepermint oil that you can drink.
Hope it helps.
