Just wondered how many of you had your babies on due dates?

How many had babies early/late with no medical reason?

I had induction with DD at 39 +5.

Oh this is not a very encouraging thread.
DS was 2wks late and I'm currently 37wks with DS2 (12 year gap). MW said if first was late likelyhood is second will be too. Was hoping she was mistaken.

Swangirl · 31/10/2009 08:51

DD 39 weeks (6 years ago today)the day before induction natural birth
DS 37+2 weeks natural birth

Hollyoaks · 31/10/2009 08:58

DD - 39+5 (bang in the middle of my date and scan date which were 4 days apart.

Pacific out of interest, how long was your DS2 in hospital after being delivered at 31 weeks. Interested as my dsis has just had a little girl 11 days ago at the same gestation. Sorry to hijack the thread.

OmniDroid · 31/10/2009 09:10

DS - 40+7, natural
DD - about 38 weeks, ummm, can't remember her due date - she's only 8 months old - but she was about a week and a half early. Came the day before DS's 3rd birthday. Of course she wasn't going to be there before his birthday, all the grandparents were coming and I had a party to do....

FlappyTheBat · 31/10/2009 09:14

dd1 - 42 (emcs after failed induction - she was very large, round the wrong way and completely stuck, only found out all this during section)

dd2 - 39+2 (elcs - no way I was taking the risk of going through the same experience again!!)

purepurple · 31/10/2009 09:22

DS was 4 days late, arrived naturally with just gas and air. Labour about 43 hours

DD came on her due date, no time for any drugs . Labour about 2 hours.

I am not having any more. I can still see the shock on DH's face when the midwife told him to have some rubber gloves ready when DD was due as DS had been fairly quick.

ChasingSquirrels · 31/10/2009 09:30

purple - ds1 was about 2 hrs, expected, and got, quick 2nd labour - ds2 was less than 15 mins. mw said if have a 3rd she would have to campt out at my house - don't know why as ds2 was a bba, so a potential 3rd being the same wouldn't matter.

purepurple · 31/10/2009 09:35

correction on my post
DS labour was 3-4 hours not 43

estar · 31/10/2009 09:36

My first two pregs had induced births:

DS1 42w

DTs 37w+2 (because of SPD)

so I was very proud when DS4 came at 40w+5 with no interference!

My friend had a baby last week at 38w and her first baby was 39w+1, so there's hope there for those that need it

I blame TV for our expectations that our babies will be unexpectedly early with very short labours. I loved it in Friends when Rachel was overdue then spent two days in labour, was so much more life-like

Habbibu · 31/10/2009 09:36

dd 40 + 1 - natural
ds 40 + 1 - natural

Phew!

purepurple · 31/10/2009 09:39

chasing squirrels, I am glad I had quick labours. I didn't really have time to panic
With my first, I was 8 cms dilated by the time I got to the hospital.
With my second I was fully dilated by the time I got there.
I had a friend whose sister was born on the toliet. They called her Penny.
Put me off a bit.

pointyhat · 31/10/2009 09:52

2 days early with both of them, natural

beautifulgirls · 31/10/2009 17:41

DD#1 40+12 spontaneous labour 14hr
DD#2 40+8 Spontaneous labour 13hr
DD#3 39+5 Spontaneous labour 3.5hr

There is still hope!

ThisPhantomPlopsPumpkins · 31/10/2009 19:53

DS - Due date.
DD - 40+7 spontaneous.

katster37 · 31/10/2009 21:52

OMG this is depressing!! Am 37+1 with first, and am desperate to meet my baby sooooon! (And stop having such horrid pelvic pain/back ache)... The thought that it could be almost FIVE WEEKS is not good for my sanity...
Hurry up!

Dysgu · 31/10/2009 22:06

DD1 - 32 wks natural and no medical reason found.
DD2 - 35 wks natural and no medical reason found.

If we have any more - which we are not planning, they will monitor me but there is no medical reason during pregnancy or labour to cause the premature births.

Both times, waters went, got to hospital, steroids injected but contractions came on too soon to stop and both born very quickly.

DD1 - 45 minutes from first contraction to arrival. 23 days in NICU.

dd2 - 20 minutes from first contraction to arrival. 10 days in NICU.

Giltz · 31/10/2009 22:23

DD 40+ 6. but they say most first babies are over, its just too comfy in there.

PlantASeedWatchItGrow · 01/11/2009 10:07

Well done on your VBAC pacific I'm hoping for one next time too!

Dysgu That is really early natural labour...and both times! Must have worried you a little!

I am at all the fast labours....20 mins???

DS 40+9 spontanious labour night before induction date, 26 hours: turned into emergency C-sec due to non - progression!

Typical boy - waiting til the last possible moment to decide to kick things off himself then can't even finish the job!

puffylovett · 01/11/2009 10:34

DS1 42+3, spontaneous labour, 18 hrs start to finish, tiny bit of G&A

DS2 42+3, spontaneous labour, 6 hrs total, no pain relief.

Hospital had dates wrong both times, they were both bang on 40 weeks from conception.

ilovesprouts · 01/11/2009 10:37

ds1 had at 32wks due to eclampsia ,dd1 4 days early, and ds2 was 40+12 days ,had to be started off twice ,did not work so had em cs did not come down enough !!

thisisyesterday · 01/11/2009 10:44

bear in mind that a "due date" is just a rough guide of when you will have your baby. only about 5% of babies are actually born on that date

term is considered to be 37-42 weeks, so while we talk about being 2 weeks "early" or a week "late" very often this is all actually totally within that timescale and the baby is, in fact, on time

this is why i hate due dates!

but, as you asked

ds1 was 2 weeks past his due date
ds2 was a day after
ds3 was a week after

DS1 5 weeks early, 6 13
DS2 3 weeks early, 8 14

Thankfully they were healthy, just a little stay for each in the SCBU for low blood sugar

MrsDmamee · 01/11/2009 11:43

DS1 Due date
DS2 40+5

and im hoping DS3 doesnt keep me waiting too long as ILS last time thought 5 days was an eternity lighting candles and texting every day "any news"
