2cm dilated is good though! Low and slow manageable labour is far better IME in terms of coping with the pain etc. Just keep active etc.

when the pain starts i cant even stand up straight, im going to run a hot bath, goodness i sound weak.

Did the mw mention if the baby was bak to back with you? I just wondered as you're feeling the labour in your back. If it is these labours can be a slow process.

Can you talk throught the pains? I once heard that that was a way to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and contractions (not sure if it's true though).

Sounds as though things are moving - keep us posted and I hope you enjoy your bath.

I hate to tell you this but I was 2 cm dilated with back to back dd for 2 1/2 days before I reached 5 cm. I had her 19 hours after that. Is it your first? DD was my first. I can remember how much it hurt with her at 2cm and when I went back in at 5 cm I cried to the nurse that if anyone told me I was 2 cm still I was giving up!

Good luck and I hope your wait isn't as long as mine was.

Saem77 · 30/10/2009 14:41

ledody, i hope my wait is not as long either, yes it is my first.

iv just had a bigger show.. that i am assuming is a good sign.

who knows.... arrrghhhhhhhhh

Have you got a birthing ball to bounce on? Otherwise try to keep upright between contractions?
