Does anybody know what proportion of women end up having to be induced? Is it higher for women expecting their first child?

It seems that the national average is about 20% of labours starting by induction.

I've not been able to find any information of whather it's different for first timers.

However, there does seem to be quite a bit of difference by region - so I'm linking to some tables that where you can look up the figures for your own trust.

Thanks Pip. The tables are fascinating, though England-only. Any idea where I'd get similar data for Wales?

One of the most interesting things I've read since getting pregnant. Thank you very much.
