I had a baby 4 weeks ago by CS. I stopped bleeding about 2 weeks ago. I just wondered if anyone knows how soon you have a period?

I can't remember how soon my periods returned after having my first 2 DC

1st child (emergency section) - 8 weeks
2nd child (natural) - 15 weeks

I assume it depends on whether you breastfeed or not, (although could be wrong as I can only go on my experience) my periods only returned after I finished breastfeeding usually around 13 months.

randomimposter · 18/10/2009 19:36

For me it was 7 months after a CS. I was breastfeeding which may have slowed it down?

Hope you are feeling a bit less run over than I did at 4 weeks in!

bigsquirtybloodylips · 18/10/2009 19:37

((forgot to mention) 1st child - didnt breastfeed
2nd child - tried it for a month)

as usually if you are breastfeeding, the periods will take longer to return

hairymelons · 18/10/2009 19:38

Mine came back after 13 months but was still BF so slowed it down. Congratulations on number 3

Congrats, no useful advice though

I wasn't breastfeeding. My bleeding lasted 6 weeks, stopped for a couple of days then I got my period like normal. I was thrilled

ShowOfHands · 18/10/2009 22:50

I was exclusively bfing. Came back at 13 weeks. Was very cross.

smallone · 19/10/2009 10:25

Bled for 8 wks, exclusive BF every 2 hrs periods returned 16wks. Soooo not fair!

sweetnitanitro · 19/10/2009 10:33

Congrats! I'm similar to ShowofHands and smallone, I exclusively breastfed and I got mine back after 9 weeks. I was promised 6 months

charleymouse · 19/10/2009 11:07

18 months after DD born VB
16 months after DS born emergency CS

both exclusively BF for 6 months and both have only just weaned whilst I am pregnant with no 4.

memoo · 19/10/2009 11:16

Thanks for all the replys, sorry didn't get back on last night. Kind of have my hands full with a very hungry baby!

So basically there is no real way of knowing, could be weeks or months.

Precisely memoo.

ShowOfHands · 19/10/2009 11:42

charley, DD and DS have weaned??

charleymouse · 20/10/2009 11:06

Yes, I think DD would still have a go but DH started putting DS to bed and he has dropped it right off. He still has a fascination with bosoms though and called me a "stupid lady" the other day as he "can't see bosoms" when I put my bra on.
He likes to snuggle them when he gets into bed with me in a morning but it is almost like he has forgotten what they are for but he still associates them with some sort of comfort.
