Period type pains for days......is this the start of something?

Hi,
I am a first timer and am 39+3 have been having period type pains for the last 10 days. My MW said that it was a sign that things are getting ready but that was almost a week ago and still nothing!
I have had no show or additional discharge (sorry if TMI!) but as I am typing here I have the cramps in my abdomen. They are not that painful but I just want something to happen now! I also get shooting pains in my cervix, like the baby is headbutting me! Has anyone else experienced anything like this before and are these all signs that things might start happening?

Don't worry, it is just your body practising, is the baby's head engaged yet? If it isn't it sounds like it is trying to.
I had crampy twinges and allsorts and hoped things where getting going from 38 weeks but ended up being induced at 42 weeks!! I did go into labour naturally the morning of my induction and I believe having relations with my lovely man helped this...

Have you started drinking raspberryleaf tea? My MW recommended it and I think it did help. You should be able to get it from your local healthfood store. I used two bags per cup to make it stronger, as my midwife said to drink it as much as poss. If you don't like the taste you can buy tablets.

Other than that put your feet up and relax for the big day. You will know when labour starts!

Goodluck!
