Due date from conception (do I need induction ???)

Hi everyone - does anyone know how to work out your due date from conception instead of LMP. I know the date I conceived as my partner had been away alot and I have an unreliable cycle and very bad memory. The hospital preferred to go on my estimated LMP.

Am now 40+1 and will be induced next week if nothing's happened (had an internal yesterday and no signs whatsoever yet). Still plenty of time for things to get going and I'm not concerned about induction if its best for the baby but would rather avoid if not neccessary due to my due date being inaccurate. Hospital still don't seem to interested in conception date.......

Add 38 weeks to believed conception date. Might be easier to go to one of those pregnancy calculators, tell it you have a 28 day cycle, and put in a date 2 weeks before your believed conception date as your last LMP date. Else Tell me what date you think you conceived & I'll add 38 weeks for you....?

ps: you have every right to refuse induction, btw, they can't "make you" do anything.

don't let them induce you just because of a date. let them come up with a reason (eg worried your amniotic fluid is low) then get them to scan you. If they then come up with a medical reason post scan then fine, but induction just because of dates (especially in your case) is just silly.
My three were 11, 10 and 9 days late. I'm pregnant with my 4th and I sure as hell am not expecting it on the due date!

btw in france they say that gestation is 42 weeks (but ONE day over and they induce you with gallic insistence...)

Thanks both - thats really helpful..added the 38 weeks and worked out that I shouldn't be due til this coming weekend anyway!! Don't know why the hospital didn't want to answer this question. My family has history of early deliveries on the maternal side so was more concerned about premature/early delivery until yesterday. Glad to have broken that cycle at least and am not really uncomfortable so looks like I can look forward to a few more days of being lazy and eating cake before the real work starts!

LOL at the gallic insistence. I'd given everyone yesterday as my due date and my french friend phoned to ask WHEN the baby was going to be born if not yesterday!!

Thats even better Mosschops. If I add a few days onto the date I conceived then the due date could be even another few days later. Next time I will arm myself against the dr who gave me an extremely painful internal yesterday as if she expected me to be about to go into labour any minute. I was actually even suprised she suggested doing a sweep on my due date rather than at 41 weeks...she'll have to wrestle me to the ground before she gets her hands inside me next week. I think if I was a doctor internals would be the last thing I'd want to be doing if they weren't absolutely neccessary!!

my two were 11 days late and 19!!! i was adamant i wasnt going to have an induction unless medically at risk!! had scans regularly and no problems but pissed off a couple of consultants who said why bother going to see them then!!!

My understanding is that 'normal' gestation is 38-42 weeks. Even if you go over, you can opt for monitoring, rather than induction - as I believe someone has already said. They go on about the risk of the baby's death being 6x greater past a certain point, but seem to omit to mention that it's 6x not-very-much. The risk of miscarriage after amniocentiesis is greater.

I've had problems with my 'due date' too. I have a six week cycle and I know the day on which I ovulated - but do you think anyone would take a blind bit of notice?? The midwife at the booking appointment seemed utterly incapable of working it out, came up with a huge range of dates - and then assumed that my recollection of my LMP was incorrect. (Because we're all machines working on 28 days, right...??)
