Almost 41 weeks and seeing my hopes for a lovely natural birth vanish...

Sweep on Saturday (hopefully Sooty and Soo as well but they can't commit). Another sweep on Tuesday. If nothing happens then, induction plans. By those dates I will want those things, so it isn't a case of refusing iyswim, I just want to go into spontaneous labour and have a natural birth. Don't we all - sorry, know I'm wingeing about nothing but please bear with me.
DS was born the equivalent of 5.30pm today so I think I'm finding it hard - by now I was in pain and calling DH at work to order him back

DD was a few hours old at this point

I have a very large trifle in the fridge. I might not bother with a bowl, I may just attack it with a spoon

I didn't have DD until 41+5, you've got time left. Get your DH home and get him to help speed things along

Let's wallow together (couldn't remember the word earlier - 'womble' was the closest thing).
I have eaten a whole bar (230g?) of cadbury's dairy milk since this time yesterday and considering opening a second.
I wouldn't mind if something was just happening but I'm exactly the same as I was 3 weeks ago

DH has been pressed into action, also doing clary sage baths, eating of pineapple & curry , birthing ball bouncing, nipple twiddling.

I was all jolly and upbeat at the MW, cracking jokes about stubborn children and so forth, but really I just want to cry.

I sort of semi discussed expectant management with the MW but to be quite honest my sanity won't stand it.

She wouldn't even attempt a sweep today

Expectant management is what they do if you refuse induction, they monitor you and the baby very closely, scans and so forth to make sure the placenta is still functioning and that the baby isn't getting ridiculously large.

All in the hope that you will go into labour spontaneously at some point before Christmas

oh I see. In principle I want that, but if there's a midwife with warm hands offering me a sweep...

Seriously though, I really didn't want to be induced (they do it at EDD + 10 here) so they kept an eye on me and both times I went into labour spontaneously at 42 weeks...

Hmm. They induce at T+12 here, that gives me an extra couple of days. Two days feels like a very, very long time atm.

MW did remind me I can refuse the sweep, but there is no way on god's green earth that I'm going to do that. I am nervous of induction though. But too frustrated to leave things any longer than T+12.

Don't suppose they would induce on a Saturday, sp the latest we can go is to T+13, otherwise T+16.

I had sweeps with DS3 and while it didn't seem to get things going strainght away, it did mean the MW had a good idea what was happening down there! She could tell that things were shaping up to get going so she was willing to let me wait a bit longer before I was induced.

can you self sweep? Surely it must be possible??

If I am feeling brave next week I might try and wangle an extra couple of days out of them.

Apparently our local maternity unit is the busiest in the country atm (oh good, something else to worry about, the next nearest unit is almost 40 miles away ) so I have already been warned that they might not be able to stick to the plan as it stands anyway.

Fuck it. I need chocolate.
