Where is this baby? Come moan, overdue Peeps!

Today I am a hormonal blubbering mess, where is this baby? I am only 5 days over so shouldn't even complain. DD was 5 days late, but I don't remember feeling like this.

The MW came to my house today to perform a sweep. She doesn't think it'll work (thanks for telling me that when I'm lying there and she is practically tickling my tonsils) as the cervix was far back. She managed to draw blood (perfectly normal) and tell me I was about 2cm dilated but that she'll repeat the procedure on Wednesday. I could have cried again had my head not been wedged in the headboard!

Tonight we went for a walk, went for a curry and if I am still desperate I might opt for a mercy shag, but this baby is well and truly wedged in still.

I hate doing the school run every morning and afternoon as I am constantly asked "haven't you had it yet"...er, do I look like it?

I'm also scared that this baby is going to be huge- 5lbs at 34wks so who knows what now.

So, please join me in the overdue, hormonal, sobbing club!

so I just tell yoou how envious I am ....
hehehehehe

Deeeja · 15/09/2009 16:36

Well, I am not overdue, am 39 weeks, could I just sit on this thread please. [hopeful ].
I have had the runs and been wondering if I have got some type of tummy bug, but just had bloody show before school run, and am now have period pains.
I wanna do sign watching.
I have been losing mucous plug for 3 weeks, but just had some with blood in it. That is good sign isn't it?
But mostly ladies, come on, am rooting for you!
Good luck!

Deeeja · 15/09/2009 16:37

Good luck Hollie!

arolf · 15/09/2009 16:50

good luck hollie!

Deeja - I'm 39 weeks too, and also have a gippy tummy, plus period pains - however, had this 2 weeks ago too, and it obviously meant nothing except an annoying weekend

my DP keeps laughing at me when I'm in tears saying 'this baby is never going to be born, is he?', but luckily for him I can't move fast enough to wallop him. Family and friends are not helping by constantly saying 'ooh, I never got to 39 weeks with any of mine, they were all early!'

Is it wrong for me to feel like a failure already that my baby isn't freakishly early?

Deeeja · 15/09/2009 17:24

I have just had a huge row with dh.
Apparently he had some things planned over the next couple of weeks, and wants to go to them. I need someone here with me and don't want to be left alone in the evening.
I ended with 'do what you bloody well want then'.
I am so ratty.
He is driving me nuts and is being very childish.
So there, don't care if I am being unreasonable.
He has gone upstairs to have a shower, to get away from me I expect. Woops!
Still, I am hormonal, what is his excuse?
Period pains still there and seem to be intensifying now.
I wonder if they will continue this evening. Might break out the clary sage oil around 7ish.
How is it going Hollie?
I have been having period pains for 3 weeks now Arolf, but today just feels different.
Good luck!

arolf · 15/09/2009 17:35

ok, what does clary sage actually do? and what do you do with it?

good luck everyone

Deeeja · 15/09/2009 17:46

Clary sage can calm down sporadic false contraction and aid real ones, it acts to relax you if you are having fake contractions. I can either mix it with a base oil and use it to massage my back and tummy, or I might put some in a bath with a carrier oil. It can be sniffed too, some like to burn it.
I like the smell because I am weird, but lots hate it.
Good luck everyone.
My pains are intensifying for themoment. Trying to enjoy the moment. They may just calm down.

usernametaken · 15/09/2009 17:55

Oooo, where does one buy Clary Sage?

Right after tomorrow's school run, I'm off to buy some...sounds like it could work. I could bath in it and snort it by the bucket load all day! Marvellous!

Good Luck Deeeja- I hope you get an early 39wk birth.

holliejobber · 15/09/2009 18:03

Awwww thanx for the messages everyone! I've not really had any pains since last night, so fingers crossed they start again soon(cant believe i am wishing for pains). Back at the hospital tomorrow for monitoring and stretch and sweep, so at least if cervix have opened at bit they might be able to give me a more effective sweep.

Good luck deeja, i have the opposite from my DP, he keeps moaning about starting his paternity leave, im sure he is more excited about that than the baby.

arolf · 15/09/2009 18:58

cool, I got me some clary sage today and will try it at the weekend if nowt has happened. have just had the now daily phone call from my mother asking if the baby is here yet. I think it is this phone call that will drive me crazy, faster than simply being hugely pregnant will.

mummy2t · 15/09/2009 19:34

oh its all hapening on here isn't it?? wish it was in my house. deeeja whats the carrier oil for?? i have just been putting the clary sage straight in bath, shouldn't i be????
good luck with the pains, i hope they get worse, seems weird saying that but u know what i mean

usernametaken · 16/09/2009 09:50

How is everyone getting on?

Quote of the day (from a parent at school)
"I really hope you kept all the receipts for the newborn baby clothes, you will have to exchange them for 0-3 seeing how huge and late you are".

I'm not that big- 38cm at 40wks, very tight bump, but agree, I am 8 days late!

OP posts:
minxofmancunia · 16/09/2009 10:07

hiya can I join, I'm 40+5 with 2nd dc and getting so bloody fed up! Was 8 days over last time so should be patient.

Due to intense snappiness and irritability and makinf dh do nursery run with dd as can't face comments from staff parents! Also ignoring landline in eve (when ils and parents always call) and being selective about which texts I respond to!

Didn't know about clary sage have got some somewhere so will try that. Dh is making v hot curry later and will try sex even though v v reluctant! Keep getting crampy contraction like aches that don't seem to progress. Had a show last time accompanies by very real contractions no ambiguity about them so am waiting for that. But I expect no 2 labours are the same.

May wander out to shops to get a pineapple later, any other tips?

Deeeja · 16/09/2009 17:07

Well I am still her having period pains and more show, how much is up there, .
I had an appointment today where the registrar tried to convince me that since I am Asian I have a higher chance of rupture than anyone else if I go more than 41 + 3. I asked her to tell me the percentage risk, and to show me the evidence. Well, ofcourse, the risk is unquantifiable, and this is something she has heard. I suggested monitoring, then insisted, reluctantly she agreed. They must think I am mad.
Baby still engaged, and lying ROA, so not too bad, atleast she is not posterior.
Good luck to all the properly overdue ladies!

usernametaken · 16/09/2009 20:55

I had another sweep today which again was 'unfavourable'. My Bishops score was 5-6 which is crap. So at 40+8, it looks like nothing is going to happen until induction.

I had my baby yesterday! 18days overdue. Went into spontanious labour late on tuesday night after having braxton hicks. On monday my cervix was closed tight and the midwives made out i had no hope, and then i had a 5hr labour. So there is hope for everyone!! Good luck ladies. It will happen.

usernametaken · 17/09/2009 09:51

Wohoooooo Hollie!
Many congratulations! What did you have, how much did he/she weigh?

I had a sweep yesterday which I was told would not work. Last night though I had a show- was a bit like Portuguese man o'war jelly fish splatting on the floor, so hopefully this is a sign!

Can I just send lots of sympathy to all of you...my ds2 was 11 days od and I could have cheerfully punched everyone who made helpful comments about my size (especially my dear MIL - "OH god you're so fat).

Poor ds1 had a major meltdown at nursery "I want this baby out NOW"

DS2 did arrive without intervention though so there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of you. Keep walking - fast - up and down hills!

eightisseventoomany · 17/09/2009 10:05

Well done Hollie !!!!!!!!!!
esp. for lasting 18 days over without meltdown

when you get chance....please fill us in on the details of birth & name/weight etc...

cheer us all up
