Anyone had lasting numbness after spinal?

I had my c-section 5 days ago and I still have numb buttocks and lower back. I had a spinal block rather than an epidural.
Has anyone had similar? I have an appointment with my consultant in a couple of weeks but it is not getting better and I'm getting worried now.

It shouldn't still be numb, but might well improve in time. Get a GP appointment so that they can refer you to an anaesthetic clinic.

I had an epidural that only worked down one side and my arm was numb for about 6 weeks after, I could still use it it just felt really strange. Defo speak to your GP about it cos of where it is.

Hi lazylion, I had this twice, after an epidural and then after a spinal. I found it agony to sit and breastfeed! I feel for you, apparently it is a recognised side effect and does wear off in time. Took about 6 months for me both times I am sorry to report. Obviously the numbness lessened during that time. I had regular phone calls from the anesthetist dept at the hospital as I complained while I was there (2nd time). First time I just thought I was going mad!

Thanks for that, even 6 months makes me feel better. Stupidly I haven't mentioned it to anyone yet as I was scared of being told it was permanent. It is agony LadyIsabella although that seems strange as it is completely numb. Glad you got better too Bellard.

I know, I couldn't work out how being numb could be so painful!
