I am 40weeks today, had the midwife today also and she give me a sweep,
she says im 1cm dilated and gave me a bishop score of 5 ...

What does a bishop score mean?
Does anyone think I will have my son soon ?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop_score

It relates to likelihood of induction. A score of 5 or less means they think spontaneous labour is unlikely.

Bishop score is length, softness and direction of the cervix.

Yours must be looking favourable (short, pointing towards the light and soft) - hopefully your baby will arrive soon.

that is a pretty good score for 40 weeks, althbough if it is a second baby, you are always a bit dilated

the bishops score relates to the success of induction i thought, rather than likelihood of spontaneous labour

Oops, I thought the midpoint was 0, and negative was bad, positive good - sorry!

This is my first baby....

So do you think i will go soon ?

xx

sounds like you are heading in the right direction but does not mean labour will happen today or tomorrow, but if you did need induction, chances are it would be succesful.

Bishops score also relates to how low or engaged the baby's head is

a soft, dilating and short cervix that is anterior is a good start!!
